Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. is a prominent intellectual property (IP) law firm. Though IP has become increasingly important, due to the digitizing of music and art, the firm didn’t want to get into the arcane details of patent and copyright law. Instead, they were looking to make a point about the importance of IP law without having to explain it in an ad. Black and white ads were unusual and eye-catching at the time.
