We love books and we’re passionate about paper.
There is something special about a book. Holding it in your hands and feeling its heft, as if the words on the pages have an actual physical weight as well as an intellectual one, is a reassuring sensation. Turning the pages to mark your progress, dog-earing a corner to mark your place — these little rituals, with us since childhood, put us in a place to learn, enjoy, and dream.
And paper! What designer doesn’t have a relationship with paper? The weight, the finish, the grain, the curl, the opacity, the absorption of ink, the reflection of light
every clean sheet is a potent promise and every printed one a statement of art as much as thought.
We would never advocate for the end of the printed book. But
If you’re a company reaching out to new customers, if you’re a public agency responding to your constituency, if you’re an organization informing its membership, then you need to seriously consider the power of formatting your books, journals, newsletters, and other publications in electronic format.
The economic advantages of ePublishing mean you can deliver the same information at a much lower cost-per-person rate. The explosion of tablets, smart phones, and computer-based eReaders mean the size of your potential audience is growing geometrically. And the evolution of social norms means more and more readers are coming to expect content to be available in this form.
So no matter who you want to reach and no matter what your reason for providing the information, you need to think about digital delivery. We do. Call us at 703.241.9001 and let’s discuss it further. Really.
